I am Dr. Melissa Parsons, an Emergency Medicine physician that was nicknamed "Controlled Chaos" on the soccer field, before I ever stepped foot an in ER.

My current chaos includes:

  • Assistant Residency Director in a county, therefore chaotic Emergency Department

  • Wife to a firefighter

  • Full-time mom to two wonderful (but teenage) stepdaughters

  • Founder of SheMD with my best friend and colleague, Lexie Mannix

  • Female angler

  • Cross-fitter (and wannabe yogi)

  • Infertility warrior and advocate who FINALLY has a baby on the way

  • So soon-to-be BABY MAMA! YAY!

Things to know about me:

  • I cannot survive without my morning coffee. When I transition to night shifts, I will drink decaf in the morning.

  • I've been fishing since I was 3 years old. It's my favorite way to destress, plus the ocean is the best reminder of the beautiful world around us!

  • I'm a Florida Gator for LIFE. I completed my undergraduate education AND my medical school at UF in Gainesville. Then I completed my EM residency at UF Jacksonville. And I still work for the University of Florida.  Go Gators! (I did marry a Georgia Bulldog though...)

  • I am NOT good at sitting still... ever.

  • I've been sharing my infertility journey via social media with the world as well as on stage with my EM community.  You can read more about my story on my blog or on my instagram. Or listen to my  story here.
